Spring Farm Ridge

The proposed Spring Farm Ridge renewable energy project is located on agricultural land between the villages of Greatworth, Helmdon and Sulgrave, in Northamptonshire.

Planning permission was refused by South Northamptonshire Council in June 2011, despite the application being accompanied by a comprehensive and robust Environmental Statement.  Broadview remains confident that the submitted information demonstrates that this is a good project in a good location and Broadview has therefore appealed to The Planning Inspectorate to overturn the Council’s decision.  The appeal is expected to be the subject of a Public Inquiry in the early stages of 2012, with a decision anticipated in late spring or early summer.

If the proposed wind farm were to be constructed, it would generate enough electricity to meet the annual needs of 5,580 households in the region. It would also lead to the displacement of electricity and associated carbon emissions generated by fossil fuelled power stations.  In addition, should the wind farm become operational, a community fund would be set up that would support local community groups and projects with up to £750,000 over the wind farm’s 25 year lifetime.
